La Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR) es una universidad pública de la República de Costa Rica, en Centroamérica. Su campus principal, Ciudad Universitaria Rodrigo Facio, se encuentra en San Pedro de Montes de Oca, en la provincia de San José. Es la institución más antigua, más grande y de mayor prestigio de educación superior en Costa Rica. También es la universidad de investigación más importante en el país y en América Central. Aproximadamente 39.000 estudiantes asisten a la UCR durante todo el año. Este año, vamos a celebrar nuestro WordCamp San José 2016 en el campus llamado Rodrigo Facio Brenes, con el apoyo del Centro de Informática y del equipo de la Unidad de Migración a Software Libre, se llevará a cabo en la Facultad de Microbiología en el campus.

¿Cómo llegar? La universidad es uno de los puntos más accesibles en la ciudad, tiene su propia terminal de tren urbano, múltiples rutas de autobús (San Pedro, Sabanilla, Periférica, internas UCR…), servicio de taxi y Uber súper eficiente, si buscas un método más ecológico el lugar es bello para transitar en bicicleta, se cuenta con una ciclovía que se encuentra cerca del campus.

The University of Costa Rica (Spanish: Universidad de Costa Rica, abbreviated UCR) is a public university in the Republic of Costa Rica, Central America. Its main campus, Ciudad Universitaria Rodrigo Facio, is located in San Pedro Montes de Oca,  at the province of San José. It is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious institution of higher education of Costa Rica, originally established as the Universidad de Santo Tomás in 1843. It is also the most important research university in the country, and Central America. Approximately 39,000 students attend UCR throughout the year.

This year we will celebrate our WordCamp San Jose 2016 at the campus, with the support of the computer center and the  Migration to Free Software Unit Team at the Microbiology School at campus “Rodrigo Facio Brenes”.

How to get there? The university is one of the most accessible places in the city, has its own interurban station, multiple bus routes (San pedro, Sabanilla, Periférica, internal UCR …), highly efficient taxi services and Uber. The place is beautiful to ride a bike, San Pedro has a bike path that is near the campus.
